Welcome to Internationale Stadt!

How do I find my way through?

The Survey Map

Certainly, you already contacted the survey in order to find the way right here into the Office. For a better orientation, we have choosen different colours:
Red labels the culturea area;
blue is pointing at the service area;
green marks all internal stuff of the city (Office, User, Groups).
The use of mixed colours (like the orange of 'Arena') means, that this area is an intersection of two others. Moreover, it should demonstrate, that the frame and the boundaries of the fields should be seen as a first proposal, which could be extended or totally re-arranged, if needed.

At the survey, all is clickable: The black printed words are pointing directly to a single topic, whereas a mouse-click on the coloured fields will take you to the corresponding areas.

Special areas are reserved only for the inhabitants of the city: Workspace, Private, und Closed are only open for those, who have a username and password in the Internationale Stadt.

The Navigator

Often, you will find the Navigator right at the bottom of a page.

The record-button (REC) will record letters from you to the system administrators of Internationale Stadt.
The start- and stop-button (i) takes you back to the survey.
With the fastforward-button (>>), you can move straightforward to a single place/ user/ group.

The words below do not belong to the Navigator: These are the same links as the ones in graphical format, presented as plain text for lynx users.

User, Group, Workspace, Arena -
What's that all about ???

This is no one-way-media, but a mass media, which allow to be recipient and producer of information as well.
Each inhabitant couldn't only use the ressources in the city by clicking around, but could engage herself in designing the open struture of Internationale Stadt.
Here, you are able to build your own HTML-documents and to decide, for whom they might be accessable.

On the one hand, you as a user are able to create pages, which can be read only by yourself or by all.
(So, in the User-Area, we distinguish between the sections Private and Public.)

On the other hand, you could form a group with other inhabitants of the Internationale Stadt, in order to create documents commonly, which are defined as public or could be read only by the group.
(In the Group-Area we have called these two different sections Closed and Public.)

Both - User and Group - are owner of another public section, which we have called I-D. This is the place for a public image promoted of oneself.

So, you could start writing a novel secretly (user-area Private), then you could publish a sample of it (user-area Public), until you and a few persons, being interested and inclined to contribute, will retire as an authors'team (group-area Closed), at last presenting the new work as whole (group-area Public).

How could I participate?

Just return into the Office and fill in the entry form.
Via E-Mail, you will get your user-name and password, and our bank account, to which you could transfer a lot if u like ;-)
If u are living in Berlin and like to get full Internet Access via Internationale Stadt, you'll receive a contract (as paper) via snail or fax, which should be returned signed.

And there are no restrictions?

There might be a sort of physical restricions one day. In this case we will be forced to expand our system by a few more Gigabytes. Acctually, your www-space will be restricted to 5 MBytes.

There are contraints of content as follows:

Basically, only informations of non-commercial nature are allowed.
[For a different charge, we offer the market area - physically another system - for commercial stuff.]

Following the netiquette and the human rights should be taken for granted. The Internationale Stadt is no place for slogans of racism, sexism or fascism.

And how can I find 'my' space?

The observer, not involved...
Visitors of the Internationale Stadt could search directly for a single visitor or group: via the area Arena. Here, you can have a look in the public spaces Public and I-D.

Later on, the users and groups won't not only be found via Arena, but also - if the themes of their pages will fit - in other areas, which already exist (e.g. Art, Music, Media, Service Local usw.) or others especially created for them.

If being part of the system
As inhabitant, you certainly have another point of view, and you will find under Workspace your own comfortable workspace. Password permitted!

Here, you are able:

We developped special, user-friendly tools for that. So, you mustn't know how to program software in order to start.
Enjoy!
