To all the projects on www.icf.de:

as many of you have already heard, Internationale Stadt is splitting up. The reasons for this are manifold and it's difficult to sum them up in a few sentences. Three years ago, when we started Internationale Stadt the conditions for such a project were completely different. Today there is no possibility for us to go on with it. We now consider Internationale Stadt to be a dinosaur, and nobody in our group wants to invest any more time and energy in its maintainance. The individual members of our group will still continue to work in different netculture contexts.

In practical terms, this is what will happen:

WEBSPACE at IS and private INTERNET ACCESS at IS

All of you who have private internet access through Internationale Stadt will be taken over by IN-Berlin and will get better connectivity. (date by the end of February). Your webspace can move also.

WEBSPACE at IS and commercial INTERNET ACCESS at IS

For those of you who have commercial internet access at Internationale Stadt, we are currently negotiating with different providers. We will figure out the most favourable possibilities for access and webspace and will suggest them to you in the next few days.

WEBSPACE at IS and INTERNET ACCESS somewhere else

The web server www.icf.de (_not_ berlin.icf.de) will still be online for a while. That means your projects won't disappear overnight. Nonetheless you should look for a new server for your pages. We can guarantee the functioning of the server only until the final closing of the project (ca. end of march '98). The server will exist longer, but we won't be able to take proper care of it anymore. We are negotiating with different providers, so that it might be possible that we could suggest to you a cheap or even free Home, independent of access.

      FREEZE

We want to preserve the project Internationale Stadt for us and for future generations and will do a freeze copy of the server. 1st of March we will copy the server http://berlin.icf.de and on the 2nd of March we will copy the server http://www.icf.de

Up to this date you can update your pages, if something is missing that you want to have archived or delete everything you don't want to be backedup. We will assume that everything which is on the server after the 1st of March can be archived with your consent and is part of the total art work Internationale Stadt.
If you have big web projects on http://www.icf.de that should _not_ be archived, but are too big to be deleted just for the freeze, please send us a note.

After the freeze you can update everything for as long as the server exists.
