Grew up in Wilhelmshaven (Germany) and Paris (France); studied Eastern European cultural studies, political science and art history in Berlin and Amsterdam; 1996 M.A. thesis "Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) - analysis of their artistic strategies in the context of Yugoslavia in the 1980s" (East European Institute at the Free University of Berlin).

Curator and organizer of several (media) art exhibitions ("OSTranenie 93: Shattered Myths - New Realities. Video Focus on Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe", Bauhaus Dessau 1993; "Minima Media. Medienbiennale Leipzig 94"; "discord. sabotage of realities", Kunstverein & Kunsthaus, Hamburg 1996/97).

Together with Andreas Broeckmann she was the organiser of the V2_East Meeting on Documentation and Archives of Media Art in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (Rotterdam, DEAF'96).

She is currently preparing her PhD thesis.

Inke Arns konzipierte und organisierte bislang verschiedene Ausstellungen u.a. 1993 "OSTranenie 93: Erschütterte Mythen - Neue Realitäten", Internationales Videofestival, Schwerpunkt Ost-, Mittel- und Südosteuropa, Bauhaus Dessau; 1994 "Minima Media", Medienbiennale Leipzig 94; 1996-97 "un-frieden. sabotage von wirklichkeiten", Hamburger Woche der bildenden Kunst 1996, Kunstverein und Kunsthaus in Hamburg.

1996 Ko-Organisation und Konzeption der V2_East Konferenz zu Fragen der Archivierung und der Dokumentation osteuropäischer Medienkunst, V2_Organisatie, DEAF'96, Rotterdam.
